World Steel Prices, April 2021:

Nova Trading Service Center has been providing grinding and brushing services for stainless steel coils since 2009. However, after the years of operation of the production line, it was impossible to avoid disassembly of the old grinding and brushing units and their replacement with new components equipped with modern instrumentation and software.

The modernized production line has been manufactured by IMEAS, with whom Nova Trading has been cooperating for many years. Earlier, IMEAS executed two contracts – one for Nova Trading and the second for Nova Metale – for delivery and assembly of line intended for grinding and brushing of the sheets.

Main parameters related to stainless steel coils processed in the newly started line remain unchanged. Sheet thickness is within the range 0.4-2.0 mm, the maximum width of the coil is 1,600 mm, while its weight – 16 tonnes.

It is possible to obtain a specific polished surface (grit 120, 180, 240, 320, 400, 4NT), use brush (scotch brite) or their combination (so-called duplo) on the sheet surface during processing to achieve the required visual effect or specified material roughness coefficient. Scratches may have different length and density creating the required pattern. Grinding is a dry process, but it is also possible to obtain an imitation of the wet polished surface using suitable types of grinding materials. Also, two-sided grinding and brushing of coils can be executed.

Coils surface can be additionally protected with a normal or special plastic coating – from one or both sides – depending on the further processes applied to the sheets, e.g. laser film, fiber, film for deep drawing etc.

The new IMEAS production line consists of two grinding units and four brushing units. Tools (brushes) replacement takes only a few minutes. This device is distinguished by high performance and ensures superior production quality.
