Polish stainless distributor targets more hot rolled coil

Polish stainless steel and aluminium service centre Nova Trading is installing a new cut-to-length line for hot rolled coil, 1.5-10mm thick and up to 2,150mm wide, at its site in Torun. The investment will extend its processing capabilities, which are currently restricted to 1,600mm wide coil up to 3mm thick.

The new line, which will be housed in a new 4,000 square metre building, will be installed in February 2012. The value of the investment is €5m.

“We could not previously buy hot rolled coil,” a company executive tells Steel Business Briefing, “but HRC gives us more possibilities – such as the tank and container markets.”
“We are increasingly getting into customising material, and this helps distinguish us from the mills and makes us more competitive,” the executive adds. Nova Trading is one of Poland’s largest stainless steel service centres.

Nova Trading principally handles austenitic and ferritic stainless sheet, plate, tube and bar, as well as aluminium and galvanized sheet.
